IRA Charitable Rollover

Individuals age 70½ or over can make gifts of up to $100,000 directly from their IRAs to the Garden without having to report the distribution as taxable income on their income tax return so long as certain restrictions are met. Brick text will be centered and inscribed using uppercase letters and numbers, with twenty (20) characters per line including spaces and punctuation. An order confirmation will be sent prior to engraving. For more information and assistance with dedicating a brick, please contact the Garden’s Development Department at 510-664-7969.

A gift of $500 provides a 4” x 8” brick with up to three lines of copy and 20 characters per line.

DSC_6010 copyGifts of Tribute Benches help the UC Botanical Garden maintain a diverse living collection of plants to support teaching and worldwide research in plant biology, further the conservation of plant diversity, and promote public understanding and appreciation of plants and the natural environment. They are a wonderful means of passing on a love and respect for nature to future generations.

Tribute Benches start at $25,000, and are fully tax deductible.

Tree Adoptions

Monkey Puzzle Trees (Araucaria araucana)

From the exotic monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana) to the endangered cloud forest magnolia (Magnolia sharpii), the UC Botanical Garden is home to an important and diverse collection of trees. Remember a loved one or commemorate a special event by becoming a guardian of one of these Garden icons for ten years. Your tree adoption will fund a new interpretive panel for your tree, enabling the Garden to share its history and conservation significance with thousands of Garden visitors. You will receive a personal dedication on the panel and the pleasure of making a significant contribution to environmental education and conservation.

Tree adoptions start at $7500, are fully tax deductible and may be applied towards University class gifts and giving societies. Please contact our Garden Development Specialist to arrange your gift at dsimard@berkeley.edu or 510-664-7969.

Memorial/Honorary Donation
