Presenter: BabShad Jazz Vocalist Barbara Hadenfeldt has interpreted international jazz standards on both coasts and in Europe and Asia. Described as “a warm, full-range vocalist with punch and imagination,” Barbara uses her theater and rock ‘n roll experience to put a kick in her jazz. She retired from UC Berkeley two years ago and just returned from singing engagements in Tokyo. Guitarist Bob Calo left a career in network news production to teach journalism at UC Berkeley and pursue his passion for jazz guitar. A lyrical, expressive guitarist, Bob plays with the Marin Jazztet and other local groups. Dean Muench has been into jazz since high school, and after a career in high tech returned to playing jazz full-time. In addition to straight-ahead jazz gigs around the Bay Area, he plays Brazilian and Latin jazz with drummer Phil Thompson’s “The Rio Thing.” He currently works and performs at Berkeley’s jazzschool.
