Lapageria rosea, Chilean bellflower or copihue, is the national flower of Chile. The unusual special selections shown on the left are an exclusive offering of The UC Botanical Garden. Click here to learn more about the history and cultivation of the copihue.
Throughout the year you'll find a few plants on the Plant Sale Deck of our Garden Shop. However, the best selection can usually be found at one of our annual Spring / Fall Plant Sales. If you are looking for a specific color, cultivar, etc. your best choices will be found if you attend the Member's Sale at either of these Sales. Become a member now or at the gate before the Sale.
For those on a quest for just that particular copihue, we maintain a waiting list at the Garden's Entrance Kiosk. On your next visit, have the Visitor Services attandant add your information to the list. Or you can call 510-643-2755 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The Volunteer Propagation staff will be in touch about the wait period for your preferred cultivar.
Thanks to Carlos Rendon and our many other supporting Volunteer Propagators for their work bringing these special plants to you. Their work and your purchases support the Garden's many educational and research activities. Thank you.
