On the Road Between South Africa and the New World Desert: The main upper road from the entrance leads one past the Arid House (behind you here) and the Karoo area of South Africa on your left and the New World Desert on your right. In early spring here, the Karoo comes to life with a carpet of annuals, the ice-plant relatives and many of the geophytes, like Babiana and Sparaxis .  Compare this with the same view taken 2 months earlier. 
Continuing on will lead to the Asian Area.
