This hands-on workshop will introduce children to the joy of natural dyes while they make their own patterns on eggs with brilliant plant-based colors. Price includes 4 eggs per participant. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Advance registration required.


An Introduction to Plant Dyes

Come learn the basics of creating brilliant colors from nature in this introductory workshop on natural dyes. You’ll leave with an understanding of fibers, color selection, mordanting, resist techniques and fabric and yarn samples. Participants may bring a garment or textile from home to dye. Pigments, Dyes and Fibers from Plants: A Gentle Introduction to their Chemistry

Drawing Inks with Plant Pigments

Learn to make water-based paint and inks with plants and earth pigments for use on paper or fabric with local artist and instructor Judi Petitte. Sample paper, fabric sample and brushes, ink rollers, stamps provided. The inks are appropriate for printing on paper or fabric. We will use earth, plant and fungi for pigment. Advance registration required.
