Summer in the California Collection

August 16, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

$5 – $20
A California native plant with small silvery green leaves and tight pink flowerets.

Join UCBG horticulturist Jon Kanagy for a seasonal tour that combines plant highlights and horticultural tips through the Garden’s California Collection.

For our summer session, we will be discussing plant adaptations to our summer dry climate, what to consider for irrigation, pruning, and other seasonal activities, with demonstrations of related gardening techniques. During the walk, Jon will point out summer-dormant and summer-blooming plants, and recommend those to consider growing at home.

Let our Garden help inspire your own home garden with California native plants.

This workshop is part of a 4-part series that tracks California’s seasonal changing flora along with gardening best practices.

$20 Adult / $18 UCBG Member / $10 Student (with Student ID) / $5 Qualifying Museums for All participants (with EBT card + ID)
