Alejandro y Maria Laura
Duo, bandleaders, life partners, co-authors, and travelers. Since 2009, the Peruvian pair Alejandro y María Laura have continued to share deeply felt songs that span various themes. Their first two records, Paracaídas (2011) and Fiesta para los muertos (2013), were produced by Matias Cella—producer of Jorge Drexler’s albums Amar La Trama and Cara B—and showcased the eclectic combination of the duo’s songwriting. In the past few years, the couple has visited more than twenty Latin American and U.S. cities, has participated in a number of festivals, and has shared the stage with many artists including Kevin Johansen, Javier Barria, and Aterciopelados.
La Casa No Existe (2017), Alejandro y María Laura’s third record, was released recently to both critical and popular acclaim. Produced by Juanito el Cantor, the new album was recorded with local musicians from Lima and features contributions from South American artists La Lá, Paulinho Moska, Perotá Chingó, and Ezequiel Borra. Singles include “Matrimonio” and “Aguita del Equilibrio,” the latter song having surpassed two million streams on Spotify. The duo recently performed in the most important theater in Lima, celebrating their still growing 10 year career in music.
Tonight they will perform with a full band–don’t miss this opening night of the Redwood Grove Concert Series!
