Quercus Legacy Society
Leave a Legacy that Sustains the Garden’s Future
The UC Botanical Garden Quercus Legacy Society allows donors the unique opportunity to gift a legacy that connects people to plants and our environment, supports world-wide plant research and conservation efforts to preserve endangered plants.
Individuals who have included the UC Botanical Garden in their estate plans are invited to become members of our Quercus Legacy Society, an affiliate of the UC Berkeley Benjamin Ide Wheeler Society. The Quercus Legacy program gives the Garden the opportunity to acknowledge your thoughtful giving specifically toward the future of the Garden.
Your legacy gift supports an entire ecosystem
Like the iconic oak tree—a keystone species that sustains entire ecosystems—your planned gift will nourish and strengthen every branch of the Garden’s interconnected community: from the horticultural staff who care for our living collections to the teams that support our facilities and programs.
Named after the scientific term for oak—Quercus—the Quercus Legacy Society is a fitting tribute to donors who are an important “keystone group,” foundational to the Garden’s long-term survival and growth. Like oak trees whose acorns support countless species—and plant the seeds for future generations of oaks—members of the Quercus Legacy Society ensure the continued flourishing of the Garden for years to come.
Anyone who includes an eligible gift to the UC Botanical Garden in their estate plan is welcomed into the Quercus Legacy Society. It is our way of honoring your extraordinary generosity and support. Members receive the following benefits:
• A distinctive UCBG Quercus Legacy Society lapel pin
• An invitation to our annual summer Director’s Reception at the Garden
• Invitations to small gatherings to hear inspirational speakers
• Recognition in our Annual Report publication
• Garden updates from the Director
• The satisfaction of knowing that your legacy will help sustain the Gardens’ mission for years to come!
