FULL: Introduction to Botanical Illustration (Saturday)

This class will introduce you to the fascinating world of Botanical Art. You will learn how to skillfully observe, measure and draw an apple in great detail and with botanical accuracy. This is followed by mixing and layering colors to make your fruit come to life by balancing highlights, shadows and reflected light. Students will first work in graphite, followed by watercolors or colored pencils if you prefer.

All levels are welcome

You have the option to rent materials with a $25 fee payable in cash to the instructor on the day of the class by selecting “Rent Materials.”

About the Presenter: 
Catherine Watters has been teaching botanical art for over twenty-five years in the San Francisco Bay area. Her paintings are included in several florilegia as well as permanent and private collections in the U.S., Europe and Australia, and appear in numerous books and magazines. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Botanical Artists, the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden and The Red List Project. She is also a member of the Association des Passionnnés de l’Illustration Botanique in France, and The Florilegium Society at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney, Australia. Catherine received her B.A. from the University of California at Davis where she studied French and Art.
